ISSUE NO.2 FEBRUARY 2003

  1. MEMBERSHIP & PRACTISING CERTIFICATE – 2003
  2. Members are kindly advised that your 2002 Practising Certificate expired on 28 February 2003. Those members who have not paid their fees are encouraged to do so by or before the 31 March 2003.

    In this regard a listing of names of practitioners who have been issued with a 2003 Practising Certificate is being sent daily to the Chief Registrar.

    Please note that Members who do not pay their fees by 31 March 2003, will not have their names listed in a classified advertisement that will be published in the Fiji Times on Tuesday 1st of April 2003. This advertisement will basically advise the general public of the names of practitioners who have been issued with a 2003 Practising Certificate.

  3. INTRODUCTION OF FEES.

The Council of the Fiji Law Society at its meeting on the 22nd of February decided and endorsed the following fees structure:

1. Admission Fees

Fiji Students $200.00

Regional Students $200.00

Temporary Admissions ` $350.00

    1. Certificate of Standing Fees
    2. Members $100.00

      Non Member $200.00

    3. CLE Attendance Fee $10 per session
    4. Issue of Replacement Certificate $50.00
    5. Membership to FLS $100.00
    6. Practising Certificate $300.00

3. UPCOMING CONFERENCES IN 2003 – LOCAL & INTERNATIONAL.

1. Fiji Law Society Conference – 1-3 August 2003, Shangri-La Fijian Resort, Yanuca Island

The Chairman of the Conference is Mr. Graham Leung of Messrs. Howards Lawyers. He is assisted by Mr. Ronald Gordon of Messrs. Gordon & Co. in Lautoka.

Members will be advised on the details of the programme, registration and accommodation in due course.

This Conference has been designed to ensure that it is attractive and meaningful as possible to lawyers from all works of legal life and for lawyers throughout the world.   1. CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION

All Members are required to pay a fee of $10.00 per session prior to attending any CLE Seminar. This payment is to be made well in advance.
