I am honoured and privileged to be your President for the year 2007-2008.
The Fiji Law Society continues to play a definitive and pivotal role in the affairs of our country since the events of the 5th of December 2006.
Since then, many disruptive events have occurred within the judiciary and the legal profession which events impact directly on the way that we do business. 2007-2008 is shaping up to be a challenging year for us in Fiji as some of us will be called upon to undertake cases that will determine the legal and constitutional path of our country.
During my term as Presidency, I am committed to upholding the rule of law and to ensuring that the Fiji Law Society plays a leading and defining role in the events that will unfold in the coming years.
Despite the events of the 5th of December 2006, life must go on for the members of the Fiji Law Society. As such, the council for the Fiji Law Society has put in place a comprehensive calendar for 2007-2008 which will set out our Continuing Legal Education program for the year and significant events have been planned.
The Fiji Law Society is also mindful that its membership base continues to grow with new graduates entering the profession every year. To our new members the Fiji Law Society welcomes you with open arms and we look forward to being able to assist you to assimilate into the profession.
I wish all members a successful and prosperous year and would like to remind you that the Fiji Law Society Secretariat and Council is open at all times to address your queries and your needs
Have a good year!
